On January 19, 2025, a traditional Chinese Guzheng concert successfully concluded at Queen Silvia Concert Hall of Lilla Akademien in Stockholm, bringing the beauty of Chinese music to Sweden.

The Spring Festival has long been a beloved and widely celebrated occasion around the world. On December 4, 2024, China’s “Spring Festival” was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In line with the theme of “Happy Chinese New Year”, this concert features a diverse range of Guzheng pieces that blend both Chinese and Western styles, showcasing the richness and diversity of Chinese musical culture.

In addition to the classic piece Fisherman’s Song at Dusk, which embodies the Chinese literati’s free-spirited elegance and longing for a carefree life amidst nature – depicted in verses like “… fishermen and woodcutters, keeping company with fish and prawns and befriending deer…” – the concert featured Moonlit Night on the Spring River, a musical interpretation of a Tang poem hailed as “a masterpiece that surpasses the entire Tang era”. The event also introduced new works such as Such A Life and Dazzling Tango, which blend Eastern and Western musical cultures, bringing more musical enjoyment to the “Happy Chinese New Year” celebration.

The Spring Festival belongs to China and to the world. It is celebrated in nearly 200 countries and regions, becoming a global cultural event. We are delighted to celebrate the Spring Festival with the world and experience a festival culture of “long duration, long distance, and broad vision”. The core of Chinese civilization is openness and inclusiveness. Pure, so that all can harmonize with it; simple, so that no one can challenge its beauty. Beautiful music will undoubtedly facilitate cultural dialogue and build an open platform for cultural exchange.
