On January 26, 2025, “Nihao! China” Panda Lantern Show, organized by China Cultural Center in Stockholm, was brilliantly illuminated at Kungsträdgården in center of Stockholm. The lighting ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Cui Aimin and his wife, Cultural Counselor and Director of China Cultural Center in Stockholm Li Rui, President of Hangzhou Opera and Dance Drama Theatre Cui Wei, as well as nearly a thousand attendees, including people from various sectors of Swedish society and members of the Chinese community in Sweden.
Ambassador Cui, together with representatives of the overseas Chinese community and Swedish friends, lit the colorful lanterns symbolizing good fortune and prosperity, extending New Year’s greetings to both Chinese and Swedish friends. This year’s lantern show features themes of Panda Paradise, Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate, and Dancing Bees. Kungsträdgården was transformed into a vibrant, colorful spectacle, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that attracted numerous local residents to stop and admire the display.
The choir and lion dance performances organized by local Chinese associations enhanced the festive and joyful atmosphere, becoming a dazzling highlight of winter in Stockholm. The event embodied the shared hopes of the Chinese and Swedish people for a new year filled with happiness, success, and prosperity. Thousands of attendees joined in singing Ode to the Motherland, bringing the lighting ceremony to its climax. Local residents took photos with the colorful lanterns enthusiastically, joyfully cheering, “Happy Chinese New Year!”
“Nihao! China” Panda Lantern Show will be on display at Kungsträdgården, Stockholm till February 17, 2025.
