The Melody of Spring–Classic Opera Concert

On January 15, 2025, “The Melody of Spring – Classic Opera Concert”, hosted by Chinese Embassy in Sweden and organized by China Cultural Center in Stockholm and China National Opera House, successfully concluded at Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center. The event was attended by H.E. Cui Aimin, Chinese Ambassador to Sweden, Madam Li Lihong, as well as distinguished guests from various sectors, including the Swedish government, parliament, business, education, science and technology, culture, think tanks, and media. Diplomats from foreign embassies in Sweden, members of the Chinese community, representatives of Chinese enterprises, and Chinese students in Sweden, totaling over a thousand people were also present.

The guests enjoyed “The Melody of Spring – Classic Opera Concert”, performed by artists from China National Opera House. With the accompaniment of Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, artists from China National Opera House performed O Sole Mio and more than a dozen classic Chinese and international masterpieces for the guests.

The program featured well-known Western vocal pieces, including “Toreador Song” from Carmen, the Italian art song Mattinata, and male vocal ensemble piece Funiculì, Funiculà, as well as timeless Chinese classics such as In That Place Wholly Faraway, That’s Me, and Pastoral, allowing the Swedish audience to deeply appreciate the unique charm of Chinese music.

The brilliant performance by renowned violinist Liu Yunzhi brought the concert to its climax. His masterful technique and deeply soulful performance captivated and moved the audience with its exquisite melodies. This concert not only showcased the enchanting fusion of Chinese and Western musical artistry but also brought springtime blessings to the Swedish audience, further enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries.

The event lasted nearly four hours, creating a warm, festive, and friendly atmosphere. Guests from China and Sweden exchanged greetings and celebrated their friendship in a venue filled with joyous spirit of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Attendees highly praised China’s achievements and shared their heartfelt wishes for the New Year, making the evening a truly memorable cultural celebration.
