On September 23, the academic lecture of “Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale Selected Works Exhibition (Sweden)” was successfully held at China Cultural Center in Stockholm. The exhibition was sponsored by Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Jingdezhen Municipal People’s Government, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, China Cultural Center in Stockholm, and China Arts and Entertainment Group Co., Ltd., and organized by Jiangxi Art Museum, School of Fine Arts of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Jingdezhen Ceramic University Museum, School of Art and Design of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, and China International Exhibition Agency. The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the Board of Rörstrand Museum, Rolf Malm; Head of the Crafts and Fine Art Unit at the University of Gothenburg, Katarina Andersson; Deputy General Manager of China International Exhibition Agency, Yin Peng; Deputy Director of the President’s Office of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Wang Zhiwei; Vice Dean of the International School of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Li Chao; representatives from the education sector; and art lovers and friends from Sweden and China.

The lecture was delivered by Lyu Pinchang, Chairman of the International Ceramic Education Alliance and Vice President of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. The theme of the lecture was “Cultural Reflection and Ceramic Language – The Status Quo and Development Path of Chinese Contemporary Ceramic Art”, aiming to deeply explore the development and innovation of contemporary Chinese ceramic art. Professor Lyu Pinchang provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the evolution of contemporary Chinese ceramics, from traditional crafts to modern creative concepts, and from historical heritage to innovative exploration. He vividly explained how Chinese ceramic artists continuously explore new ways of expression while inheriting traditions, striving to combine Eastern aesthetics with an international perspective to create distinctive works.

After the lecture, Professor Lyu Pinchang guided the audience through the exhibition, sharing his unique insights into ceramic art and his creative experiences. His engaging presentation allowed attendees to experience the unique charm of ceramic art up close, earning warm applause and praise.

Professor Lyu and the delegation of Jingdezhen Ceramic University and China International Exhibition Agency also visited the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack) in Sweden, where they held a lecture and exchanged on the theme “A Vibrant Tradition – The Inheritance and Innovation of Ceramic Culture”. Professor Lyu began with the history of Chinese ceramic culture, tracing the ancient pottery-making techniques and extending to today’s innovative practices, showcasing the historical evolution of traditional Chinese ceramics and its development and inheritance in the context of globalization.
