From August 31 to September 1, 2024, Stockholm Open Weiqi Tournament 2024, co-hosted by China Cultural Center in Stockholm and Stockholm Go Club, was successfully concluded. The tournament attracted Weiqi lovers from Sweden, the United Kingdom, Italy, Finland, and other European countries to experience the charm of Weiqi.
Stockholm Open Weiqi Tournament 2024 featured multiple categories, covering a wide range of participants from amateur to high-ranking players. All participants gave their best during the matches, demonstrating exceptional skills. The finals, in particular, showcased brilliant strategy and tactical planning, leaving the audience in awe.
In addition to the high-level competition, Stockholm Open Weiqi Tournament was also a grand celebration of Weiqi culture. During the event, organizers arranged a series of activities, including Weiqi culture lectures and player exchange sessions. Weiqi lovers from various countries took this opportunity to practice Weiqi skills, engage in in-depth discussions about the development and promotion of Weiqi across different cultural contexts, and deepen their understanding of friendship and cultural exchange.
Martin Stiassny, President of the European Go Federation, attended Stockholm Open Weiqi Tournament 2024 and expressed his special thanks to China Cultural Center in Stockholm for providing the venue and the strong support. He also expressed his full support for Stockholm to host larger and more international Weqi tournaments, hoping that Stockholm could become a main stage for Weiqi competitions in Northern Europe.
Moreover, the success of this event would not have been possible without the full commitment and strong support of Stockholm Go Club. The club made outstanding contributions to the organization of the tournament, recruitment of players, and logistics, while providing a platform for the Weiqi community to exchange ideas and further develop.
