Inner Mongolian Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition

25 September – 27 October

Inner Mongolian Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition

This exhibition China Cultural Center in Stockholm has gathered three parts of typical exhibits from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region: Busigui Hand-made Pankou Knots, Zarut Printmaking and Urad Embroidery. Pankou Knots can be used as braided fasteners for traditional Chinese garments. Traditionally, Pankou knots are presented as ceremonial gifts. Therefore, the design often carries rich tones of ethnic culture. Zarut Printmaking is an artistic form of expression based on a pure and robust tone, reflecting real life, with strong ethnic characteristics and a sense of modernity. Common patterns of Urad embroidery are generally elements extracted from nature, such as natural landscape, plants and animals, all symbolizing an ideal life featuring harmonious coexistence with nature. The technique of manual thread-twisting in Urad embroidery is rather special with no parallel made by modern machines. Thanks to their unique aesthetic value and incompatibility with homogenization and mass production, Urad embroideries are considered particularly precious.
