On October 26, although autumn chill had already settled over Stockholm, warmth and vigor filled the halls of China Cultural Center in Stockholm. More than 40 attendees gathered to listen various speakers share captivating insights into Chinese culinary and tourism culture.

The first lecture focused on Chinese culinary culture. Speaker Xu Xiaojun, from Kinesisk Bro Klub Stockholm, introduced the history of Chinese culinary culture and four major Chinese cuisines: Sichuan, Shandong, Cantonese, and Huaiyang. Each cuisine has its own unique characteristics, representing different facets of Chinese culinary culture and showcasing rich regional flavors.

The second lecture focused on Chinese tourism culture. Speaker Xu Yingchun, Chinese Language Instructor at Stockholm University, introduced the book Xu Xiake’s Travels, which tells the story of the Ming dynasty geographer Xu Xiake and his lifelong quest to travel the world. She also encouraged everyone to have dreams and to pursue them courageously.

In the third lecture, speaker Axel Kierkegaard, Member of Kinesisk Bro Klub Stockholm, shared his experiences of traveling in China and conducted a Q&A session. The audience was highly interested, asking a variety of questions, to which Axel Kierkegaard provided thoughtful and detailed responses.

Since June 2023, China Cultural Center in Stockholm has hosted over 20 online and offline lectures as part of the “China’s Stories” series, which have been warmly welcomed by the Swedish public. Many attendees expressed their hope to participate in more “China’s Stories” lectures in the future.
