On June 15th, China Cultural Center in Stockholm hosted “Contemporary Stories of Enamel in the East” Lecture and Enamel Experience Workshop, organized by The Enamel Alliance. This event provided enamel art enthusiasts with a platform to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary enamel craftsmanship and allowed participants to experience the unique charm of enamel making firsthand.

The event began with an engaging lecture by the exhibiting artists. The artists gave a detailed introduction to the development and inspiration behind contemporary enamel craftsmanship. They showcased their works and shared the stories and processes behind each piece. Through this lecture, participants not only learned about the history and techniques of enamel craftsmanship but also gained insight into the artists’ unique creative concepts and artistic pursuits.

Following the lecture, the artists led participants on a guided tour of the exhibited works. Attendees had the opportunity to appreciate the exquisite enamel pieces up close and to feel the meticulous and delicate nature of each work, which gave participants a deeper understanding of enamel craftsmanship.

After the lecture and tour, the event moved into the most anticipated part – the enamel workshop. Under the guidance of the artists, participants created their own enamel jewelry pieces on pure silver bases. From choosing colors and mixing enamels to meticulously applying the enamel, each step was filled with both fun and challenge. The artists explained technical points of each step and provided on-the-spot guidance.

Participants immersed themselves in the fun of creation, experienced the charm of enamel craftsmanship, and gained a sense of achievement from making unique enamel jewelry pieces.

“Contemporary Stories of Enamel in the East” Lecture and Enamel Experience Workshop was not just a feast of art but also an exchange and a collision of cultures. Participants gaining knowledge, skills, and friendships during the event is the epitome of cultural exchanges between China and Sweden.

We extend our gratitude to the artists from The Enamel Alliance for their organization, sharing and guidance. We look forward to more opportunities like this in the future, where more people can learn about and fall in love with enamel art, and together, we can preserve and promote this valuable cultural heritage.
